The Shadows of Piranesi's Santa Maria Del PirotoRome, Italy
Type: Photogrammetry Montages
In Collaboration with: Michael Young
Poché is a fundamental convnetion of architectural representation, and can be understood as the gap between what is visible and what is physical. As new technologies of mediation begin to scan our world, such as LiDAR 3D scanning, the development of our mediums and techniques will consequently to transform as well.
These frayed images produced through various photogrammetry workflows, were developed for Michael Young’s Rome Prize proposal, utilizing point cloud data captured through photogrammetry of Piranesi’s only built architectural project, Santa Maria Del Piroto in Rome, Italy. The research ultimately concluded in the book, Reality Modeled After Images: Architecture and Aesthetics after the Digital Image, 2021.
