Cole Kazuo Masuno — Bio

Cole Masuno’s work explores the accidental and incidental aesthetics of as-found materials, objects, and leftover vestiges embedded within our built environment. His research speculates on how we deal with the generic relative to our cultural archive and rethinking how we can upcycle what we have too much of – specifically, non-physical signs and symbols from our visual culture as ready-mades, and different vernacular architectural histories. Raised in Los Angeles and trained as an architect, his work arises from an deep connection to the city and its material culture. Cole Masuno’s practice questions the disciplinary boundaries of contemporary art and architecture as a practice.
